RICHARD
MOURDOCK DECLARES OFFICIAL CANDIDACY
For State Treasurer in 2006
INDIANAPOLIS | October 21, 2005 -- Today, Richard Mourdock announced
his
candidacy for State Treasurer of Indiana in the upcoming 2006
election at the Indiana Republican State Headquarters.
"In the past ten months, Governor Daniels has presented a
bold vision
and is moving Indiana forward. He is steadfast to his belief that
Indiana deserves to be made better," said Mourdock.
"I pledge to all Hoosiers that I am a person of ideas and
one who enjoys challenging those around me with new ideas. It
is new thinking that will move us forward," he said.
Richard Mourdock introduced himself as someone who will use his
experience in business, local government, and life to serve as
a good administrator of the State office. He would run the office
of Treasurer wisely, but aggressively, to make the most of Indiana's
investment dollars to keep taxes low.
"I will be a State Treasurer who will promote the use of
our financial tools so that each and every one of Indiana's counties,
cities and towns can, when necessary, fund cost-effective progress.
Luke Messer, Executive Director of the Indiana Republican Party
said of Mourdock, "It is exciting to see Richard enter the
race for State Treasurer. He has a record of success as a public
servant in Evansville and he's earned a great reputation with
Republicans around the state as a strong campaigner that won't
be outworked in any race."
Richard Mourdock, who resides in Evansville, is self employed
through the environmental consulting firm which he founded, R.E.
Mourdock and Associates. He has served as a twice elected County
Commissioner in Vanderburgh County, the seventh largest county
in Indiana, as well as serving as the County Commission Board
President. Mourdock has also served as Secretary of the Vanderburgh
Republican Party along with serving on various Boards and Commissions
in Vanderburgh County.
