MOURDOCK
NOMINATED FOR STATE TREASURER
INDIANAPOLIS | June 20, 2006
-- Richard Mourdock received the unanimous endorsement of the
nearly 2000 delegates assembled this week at the Indiana Republican
State Convention to become the Republican nominee for State Treasurer.
Mourdock was nominated from the podium by Secretary of State
Todd Rokita who was also nominated for re-election. Mike Miner,
Mourdock's campaign chairman, seconded the nomination and it was
approved by a voice vote. Mourdock gave a fiery acceptance speech
in which he encouraged the assembled delegates to take and hold
the political "high ground." The nomination was followed
by an enthusiastic floor demonstration.
The 2006 Indiana Republican State convention, adopting the theme
"A Party of Purpose" also nominated incumbent Treasurer
Tim Berry as the GOP candidate for State Auditor. Mourdock, Rokita,
and Berry will spend the rest of the week on a media tour around
the state to re-introduce themselves to the voters.
